Dr. Rajesh Sharma

Dr. Rajesh Sharma is one of the eminent Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeons of Delhi  who has attained fame for his experience and expertise. Dr. Sharma is the Director and the Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute at New Delhi. He is also working as a Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the Jaypee Hospital, Noida.

Dr. Sharma, who completed MS (General Surgery) and MCh (Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery) from AIIMS, New Delhi, has undergone training in Ventricular Assist Device at Berkeley, USA. He did his fellowship in Paediatric Cardiovascular Surgery from Children’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, USA and May Ann Knight Hospital for Children, Miami, Florida, USA.

Dr. Sharma has performed more than 20,000 cardiac surgical procedures in his career consisting of both adult and congenital heart diseases. His field of interest is the surgical treatment of complex congenital heart diseases. Dr. Sharma has performed more than 10,000 cardiac surgical procedures since 1991, including surgery for both congenital and acquired heart diseases.

Dr. Sharma was an Additional Professor at the AIIMS, New Delhi with teaching and training responsibilities, and later he was Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore from 2001 to 2007. He was instrumental in training  innumerable cardiac surgical trainees who are now working at various hospitals throughout the world.
