Dr. (Prof) Gourdas Choudhuri is is the Head of the Department and Director of Gastroenterology & Hepatobiliary Sciences at the Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon. He is also a Visiting Consultant at the Sahara Hospital in Lucknow. He dons a number of hats - he is a gastroenterologist, medical educator, researcher of national eminence, as well as a columnist and a philanthropist. Dr Choudhuri, who has a vast experience and expertise in the field, is skilled in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of liver and GI diseases, apart from being a skilled endoscopist.

Dr. Gourdas Choudhuri started his medical career by doing his MBBS from JIPMER, Pondicherry, in 1978. He then did his MD in Internal Medicine from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, in 1982, followed by a DM in Gastroenterology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, in 1984. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, in 2010; Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences of India in 2005; Fellow of the Indian College of Physicians in 1998; and Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology in 1998.

Before taking up the current assignment, Dr. Gourdas Choudhuri was a Vice Chairman, Institute of Digestive & Hepatobiliary Sciences at Medanta – The Medicity (June 2012- Mar 2013), Professor & Head, Department of Gastroenterology at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow (2002 - 2012), Additional Professor, Department of Gastroenterology at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow (1993 - 2002), Associate Professor, Department of Gastroenterology at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow (1989 - 1993), Assistant Professor, Department of Gastroenterology at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow (1987 - 1988), and Assistant Professor, Department of Gastroenterology at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna, in 1987.
