My father is 70 year old very energetic and fit person. He does not smoke or drink. At one evening, he had a black out for a few seconds and our general physician advised to consult a cardiologist as there was some issues in his ECG and other reports. We took an online appointment of Dr Dhiman Kahali and consulted him. He immediately advised a pacemaker implantation. The hospital guys wanted to see the Mediclaim coverage amount and a pacemaker of same price was implanted on the next day. After that, the doctor advised an angiogram and they found 90% block! The doctor told me this is life threatening condition and they have to do angioplasty immediately. But we smelled a fish here and also the expenses for pacemaker implantation were already more than the Mediclaim coverage. So, we decided no to go ahead with angioplasty and got my father discharged from the hospital immediately. Then we consulted Dr Satyendra Dutta at Healthworld Hospital, Durgapur and also the eminent Cardiologist Dr Kunal Sarkar. After reviewing the angiogram video, both of them have opined that everything is alright and no angioplasty is required now. So, it is now clear that the BMB Hospital and Dr Kahali was trying to loot us by advising angioplasty and it is even doubtful whether pacemaker implantation was at all required or not. Other issues with this Dr Kahali is that he just loves to be in the operation theatre (may be OT earns him more money than the OPD) and the patients have to wait there whole day to consult him. The "online slot booking" thing on Practo is just meaningless and you have to be in the queue after the patient who come to the hospital before you. SO, A BIG NO TO THIS HOSPITAL AND DR DHIMAN KAHALI.
