Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology (KMIO), Bangalore

The Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, located on Hosur Road in Bangalore, is a Regional Cancer hospital that has been recognized as a Center of Excellence in Oncology. The institute, which was started in 1973 with a 50-bed strength acquired Autonomous status in 1980, and has also been accorded the status of a Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) in 1980 - one among the eleven RCCs in the country.

The Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, also known as KMIO, was constructed in memorium of one of the most illustrious and distinguished sons of the country, Shri Rafi Ahmed Kidwai, who played a very prominent role in the freedom struggle. He donated 20 acres of land for the hospital along with Rs. 1.00 lac for the Radiotherapy machine.
