Dr. J. L. Banerjee formed a new committee and started on the development of the hospital. At the beginning, this hospital had only 14 maternity beds housed in a single-storeyed building. In course of time the hospital developed into a multi-disciplinary general hospital with 50 beds housed in a four-storeyed building constructed by the present governing body.
