Bronchiolitis obliterates organizing pneumonia (BOOP) can also be called Epler's pneumonia. It is a non-infectious pneumonia in which bronchioles and surrounding tissues in the lungs are inflamed. Some authors call the condition as cryptogenic organizing pneumonia (COP) to distinguish with bronchiolitis obliterates. The major causes may be due to pulmonary infection by bacteria, viruses & parasites, inflammatory diseases as systemic lupus, rheumatoid arthritis & scleroderma, bronchial obstruction, toxic fumes and drugs.
Some of the symptoms of bronchiolitis obliterates with organizing pneumonia:
- Fevers
- Chills
- Night sweats
- Fatigue
- Weight loss
- Dyspnea
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
