Bartholin's glands are located on both sides of vaginal opening, which secrete the fluid that helps to lubricate the vagina. When the opening of the glands gets obstructed making the fluid go back into the gland, leads to relatively painless swelling called Bartholin's cyst. The fluid within the cyst may become infected resulting in pus that inflames the tissue. This cyst may be caused due to bacterial infection or due to sexually transmitted infections.
Some of the symptoms of Bartholin's Cyst:
- Fever
- Tender and painful lump at the vaginal opening
- Pain and discomfort during intercourse
- Discomfort while walking
- Redness in the vaginal area

Consult a Gynecologist if have abnormal lump or pain in the vaginal area. The doctor may suggest some medication or tests depending on the condition.
