Dr. Andal’s Lakshmi Fertility Clinic was established in 1989. Though they started their practice as a gynecologist, treating antenatal, gynaec and infertile couple, some of the incidents in their experience have driven they to think more about the problem of infertility. It is the question posed by a patient that why she didn’t conceive inspite of all tests being normal and taking treatment for infertility for a long time was a turning point in understanding the problem of infertility from a different angle. This made they reflect and realise that pregnancy is affected by the stress and negative attitude. They also found that out of 100 infertile couple, only 15-20 people will require an IVF or ICSI. That means they will be able to treat large group of patients with lesser costs and availability to large groups of patients especially in a country like India where the economic disparities are high. They are also growing in their strength from the happiness they derive from the feelings of the couple when they conceive. It’s a feeling which cannot be explained in words and it is this strength that helps in moving forward.
