Dr. Anoop Ranjan Varma is an experienced senior consultant Neurologist associated with Santokba Durlabhji Memorial Hospital, Jaipur. Dr Anoop Varma completed his medical training with honours at the SMS Medical College, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur in 1984. His postgraduate training and research spans a decade in premier institutions including Sree Chitra National Institute, Trivandrum; National Hospital, Queen Square, London; the Greater Manchester Neuroscience Centre; and the Regional Infectious Diseases Unit, North Manchester General Hospital. He was a permanent full time Consultant and Honorary Lecturer at the Greater Manchester Neurosciences Centre, University of Manchester from 2001-2014. Upon his return to Jaipur he has been appointed Senior Consultant at the reputed Neurology Department, SDMH, Jaipur. He has won numerous awards and medals during his career including the prestigious PN Berry Scholarship for higher studies in the UK. Dr Varma has long standing interest in the study of cognitive disorders including dementias. He has 15 years’ experience running a specialist dementia clinic at Manchester and has published papers on diagnosis and neuroimaging of FTD, AD and VaD; HIV associated neurology and autoimmune encephalitis. He has also contributed book chapters and reviews on dementias. Dr Varma maintains a keen interest in clinical neurology as the foundation of modern neurosciences. His repertoire has evolved into the fields of subacute encephalopathies including autoimmune encephalitides and neurology of infection including HIV associated cognitive disorders.
