Dr. Chirag's undertook his specialization education at the Christian Medical College in Vellore of Tamil Nadu, which is the next best institution after the AIIMS, Delhi. There, he pursued a specialty training in  a two-year structured postdoctoral fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics.

As CMC was a busy tertiary care referral institution, he had the opportunity to acquire a vast clinical and surgical exposure to a variety of pediatric orthopedic conditions. He is also acquainted with many of the latest treatment techniques as a result of his constant and regular interaction with many overseas doctors.

He went to Australia for further specialization in pediatric orthopedics, where he learnt various new investigative and treatment methods for kids. He also underwent specialty training in cerebral palsy with gait analysis and surgical deformity correction.

He has received an award from the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of India for the best research paper on DDH in the year 2010.
