Dr. Dhiman Kahali is one of the renowned interventional cardiologists famous not only in India, but in entire South Asia. He is a Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist in the B M Birla Heart Research Center and the Calcutta Medical Research Institute, both located at Kolkata.
Dr. Kahali, who practices clinical and interventional cardiology, has performed thousands of complex coronary angioplasties with excellent results. The doctor boasts of a mortality rate of 0.3% for angioplasty that can be said to be on par with the best in the world.
Dr. Dhiman Kahali has an excellent track record for treating severe heart failure patients with very low mortality rates. He has performed primary angioplasty on patients who have suffered Cardiogenic Shock with excellent results. He also performs Primary Angioplasty on patients immediately after a heart attack on a regular basis with very good results. He performs about 50 angioplasties every year on an average. He also does peripheral vascular and carotid intervention on a regular basis.
Dr. Kahali started his medical school in 1977 at the R. G. Kar Medical College, Kolkata, where he did his M.B;B.S. followed by an MD in Cardiology at the same institute in 1982. This was followed by a Diploma in Cardiology in 1983 at the IPGMER, Kolkata and later by DM in Cardiology at the same institute in 1987. Dr. Kahali trained at the SSKM Hospital and the IPGMER in Kolkata and later practiced in the B M Birla Research Center in Kolkata.
Dr. Kahali, who attends a number of national and international conferences regularly, has a number of papers and publications to his credit. He has also received a number of citations and awards for his contribution to the field of interventional cardiology. He also visits a number of institutions throughout the world frequently to give guest lectures.
