Dr. Jagath lal G. has independently operated about 2000 cases including various pediatric and adult brain and spine diseases; hydrocephalus- both shunts and endoscopic third ventriculostomy, splitcord malformations; brain trauma and spine trauma -- fixation surgeries; brain tumors -- including skull base, sellar region- pituitary tumors, posterior fossa including acoustic schwannoma, intrinsic brain tumors and surgery for eloquent cortex; functional cases like trigeminal neuralgia and lesional epilepsy surgery; spinal tumors – at all levels, thoracotomy with fusion; brain and spine congenital malformations, CV junction diseases; degenerative spine diseases – decompression and fusions, microdiscectomy and endoscopic discectomy, surgery for spondylolisthesis; spinal infections –cervical with fusion; peripheral nerve lesions like carpal tunnel syndrome, brachial plexus injury; stereotactic surgery for brain lesions. He also performed a number of vascular surgery cases like aneurysms and AVMs. Dr. Jagath lal.G is an expert in Gamma knife Radiosurgery which is performed in highly selected centres in the world.
After completing surgical training at Calicut Medical college and obtaining Masters Degree in General surgery, Diplomate of the National Board of India and Membership of the Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh, worked as a lecturer in Neurosurgery at Calicut Medical College from 2003 to 2004. I underwent further training in MCh Neurosurgery at NIMHANS, Bangalore, one of the most elite institutes for neurosurgical training in Asia. I have worked at consultant level for the last seven years performing various brain and spine surgeries and training neurosurgery residents and fellows at NIMHANS, an institute of National importance.
