Dr. Karthik Gunasekaran

Dr. Karthik Gunasekaran, Director of Laser Kidney stone clinic is a Urologist in Chennai & Urogynecologist with specialist training in Laser Surgery. He completed his Masters in Surgery with a Gold medal in Urology from Madras Medical College. He is obtained FRCS from Royal College of physician and surgeon of Glasgow. He later left to the United States for a Fellowship in Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery. He trained at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Florida and later completed a Double Fellowship in Laparoscopic Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery at Atlanta Urogynecology Associates. Returning to India in 2004, Dr.Karthik set up GAURI, A Specialist Urogynecology clinic with complete solutions for pelvic Floor problems. GAURI has treated more than 10,000 women suffering from Incontinence, prolapse and kidney stone problems till date. During his practice, Dr.Karthik noticed that a significant population of these women also had stone problems. Kidney, Gall Bladder, Ureteric and bladder stones were common problems that caused intense pain. Sometimes the stones were a complication of Urogynecological procedures. Dr. Karthik conceived the idea of a specialist kidney stone clinic in Chennai which could treat all kinds of stones in a day care fashion. His passion for Laser surgery saw him obtain specialized training in it. The Holium Yag Laser, the final word in Laser Stone surgery was born.
