Dr (Major) R S Rengan is a National Board certified senior consultant Laparoscopic and General
Surgeon in Chennai.He specialises in
Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal and Colo-rectal surgery. He has also
performed thousands of Hernia , Breast,
Thyroid and Cancer surgeries. He
is an ATLS certified Trauma Surgeon
and has had great experience in polytrauma including bullet and bomb injuries
as well as road traffic accidents.
Dr Rengan has a special interest in Obesity management through bariatric
surgery. He is also conducting an ongoing research on INTRAGASTRIC BALLOONS for management of Obesity
Dr (Major ) R S Rengan is a senior consultant in Laparoscopic Surgery at Apollo First Med Hospital. He also
operates at other corporate hospitals like Medway Medical Centre ,
Venkataeswara Hospitals , New Hope medical Centre and Sooriya Hospitals

TEACHING:

Dr Rengan is a faculty and Professor at Ethicon Institute of Surgical
Education (EISE) where he takes classes for Surgeons and other surgical
auxillary staff. He specialises in taking classes on Laparoscopic surgery ,
Science of Tissue Management , Surgical site Infection and Hernia teaching modules
He was a council member of the National
Committee on Uniform Surgical Training for Hernia Surgery for post graduates.
He has also participated and given many lectures at various International
Surgical Summits. He recently represented India at the Asia-Pacific Summits on
Surgical Site Infection at Singapore and Hong Kong.

ACADEMICS:

Dr Rengan has a strong academic background. He was a GOLD MEDALLIST in MS (
Gen Surg ) and also did his DNB successfully. During his undergraduate days in
Stanley Medical College, Chennai he was a meritorious student who won Gold
Medals in Physiology , Pathology and General Medicine. He won the Proficiencies
in first and final MBBS
Dr Rengan will be soon launching a newsletter â€œ The Progressive Surgeon
â€œ to educate surgeons and physicians on
current trends in surgery

CAREER & HOME of HEALING

Home of Healing Surgical Centre was started on 13th
September 2001 in Chennai by Dr ( Major ) R S Rengan , a senior Laparoscopic
Surgeon who had just finished 14 years of glorious service in the Indian Armed
Forces. He was a decorated soldier and surgeon who had served in the Army
Medical Corps in various parts of the country. He was also a part of the Indian
Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka where he received the Army Commander's Commendation
award for gallantry

COUNSELLING & SEXOLOGY

Dr Rengan has a special interest in counselling and has been a leading
expert in school health and adolescent counselling for the past 15 years. He
also practices sexology and has been a Consultant Andrologist at Jananam
Fertility Centre, Chennai. He is also a member of Indian Andropause Society (
IAS ). He is also a an executive council member of CSEPI
