Dr. Naresh Bhat is one the well known doctors of Bangalore who has earned the reputation of being one of the best gastroenterologists in Bangalore. Dr. Bhat, who practices at the Aster CMI Hospital in Sahakaranagar.He was also the Chairman of the Department of Medicine at St. Philomena's Hospital, where he has been working since 1986. Dr. Bhat is also the Chairman, NBI Group India, and the Chairman, IBD Mentors Group. He has also been instrumental in founding the Bangalore Gastroenterology Group in 1989. He Bhat is also the Coordinator for the IBD Mentors Group in India, which aims at educating and training Gastroenterologists in the treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Dr. Naresh Bhat's introduction into the world of medicine started with his doing MBBS from the St. John's Medical College, Bangalore in 1979. This was followed by his MD (Medicine) from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh in 1983. He, then went on to do his DM in Gastroenterology from the same institute.

Dr. Bhat is a member of the Society of Endoscopic and Laproscopic Endoscopic Surgeons of India (SELSI) and the Indian Society of Gastroenterology. Dr. Bhat, who has been into clinical Gastroenterology since 1986, was responsible for setting up tertiary referral units at St. Philomena's Hospital and the Bangalore Hospital. These hospitals are equipped with the latest Endoscopy units, which are able to undertake the latest diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including biliary and pancreatic work. Dr. Bhat is currently heading "GI Associates", which is a group of four Gastroenterologists in practice. He is also Mentor of a multidisciplinary team involved in liver transplant.

Dr. Bhat, who is passionate about teaching and training, is presently involved in evolving a training and credentialing system in GI Endoscopy for the Indian Endoscopy Society. He is also actively involved in a mentoring program for young clinicians in Gastroenterology. His aim is to develop a core group of Endoscopists to foster interest in high-definition Endoscopy.
