Achievements & Contributions

  • Passenger lymphocytes in the human donor liver andthe occurrence and severity of acute cellular rejection post transplantation. The results of the above study have been presented in local and international meetings
  • The role of nitric oxide in ischaemia and reperfusion injury during human orthotopic livertransplantation. The results of my research have been presented in a number of local and international meetings and have been published in international peer reviewed journals
  • My research also enabled me to learn various laboratory techniques such as immunohistochemistry, apoptosis by TUNEL technique, nitric oxide analysis by chemiluminescence and Western Blot analysis. The nitric oxide study was the subject of my thesis submitted to University College Dublin for a higher degree (Master of Surgery), which was awarded in May 2004
