She did a two-year fellowship in general ophthalmology, including one year in the Retina Vitreous Services at L V Prasad Eye Institute (1991-1993)
She underwent further fellowship training at the National Eye Institute, Bethesda, USA (1995) in ocular genetic diseases and electrophysiology of vision and posterior uveitis
In 1998, she underwent a short-term fellowship program in the management of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and paediatric retinal disorders at the William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan, with Dr Michael T Trese
She has over 300 presentations and 80 publications in national and international journals and book chapters
