On March 12, 2019, my sister broke her femur resulting from falling on the uneven sidewalk at New Mangalore, India. She got admitted at Yenepoya Specialty Hospital and had surgery the following day. She and I stayed at the hospital for 14 days. While the accident was indeed unfortunate, we were lucky that she landed at Yenepoya, where the hospital care was excellent.
The staff from the doctors to the nurses, cleaners, PRO and staff, administration staff, female nursing orderlies, canteen staff, dietitian, and physiotherapists demonstrated dedication and strong work ethics. Everyone was friendly and tried to make our stay comfortable. Our hospital room was cleaned at least three times a day and public areas were always spotless. Response to our concerns and questions were prompt and comprehensive.
I am writing this review to thank everyone in the hospital who was involved in my sister’s quality care: First and foremost, to Dr. Deepak Rai who was not only competent and efficient but also compassionate and inspiring. The same goes to Dr. Ashok Bhat, Dr. Girish, Dr. Shetty, and Dr. Vivek.
Thanks to the day and night nurses - Avi, Sowji, Betty, and Abhaya. Special thanks to FNOs Bhavani Shetty and Asha (my sister’s favorites) for their kind attention and gentleness. To PRO Daya and Shawn for going out of their way to assist us in our various needs, particularly, in buying our plane tickets. To Guru for readily attending to our wifi concerns. To dietitian Jayashree, and physio staff Aswini and Ramnia for their motivation and skills. Our heartfelt gratitude to Hema for her patience and indulgence in accommodating our dietary needs. We truly enjoyed the two sugar-free birthday cakes!
Everyone at Yenepoya treated us well. All of you opened our eyes to a new experience - a display of warm Indian hospitality and empathy. We couldn’t have asked for more and we will be eternally grateful. It took us about three days to get home due to long layovers and a flight cancellation, but I am happy to report that my sister is well on her way to recovery. From the bottom of our hearts, thanks to all of you.
