Bipolar Disorder is also called bipolar affective disorder or manic depressive illness. It is a mental condition with periodic elevated mood and periods of depression. The mood swings are extreme in this disorder as manic or hypomania and depression or suicidal tendencies. The actual cause of bipolar disorder is unknown, but some of the factors that the condition are biological differences, neurotransmitters, hormones, inherited traits and environment. If left untreated, it would result in serious problems that affect every part of life.

Consult a doctor if you have signs of bipolar disorder. Severe symptoms may arise to suicidal tendencies which need immediately counseling and treatment.
