Viral Arthritis or viral Arthropathy is inflammation of joints due to viral infection. It causes swelling and irritation in the infected joins. Enterovirus, Dengue virus, Hepatitis B & C, HIV, Mumps, Rubella, and Alpha virus are some of the virus that may affect joints. Viral Arthropathy symptoms may be similar to symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Usually the viral arthritis is easily curable but some forms may be cause chronic infection and lasts for long time.
Some of the symptoms of Arthropathy associated with viral disease:
- Joint pain
- Swelling
- Stiffness in joints
- Skin rash or redness on affected area
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult an Orthopedic or an Arthritis specialist if you have signs of viral arthropathy. Early treatment can avoid chronic infections.
