Auditory processing disorder (APD) or Central Auditory processing disorder (CAPD) is cluster term for auditory processing disorder. This disorder leads to difficulty in recognizing and interpreting sounds as it affects the way the brain processes auditory information. The increased rate of auditory difficulties is found in childhood. APD may be caused by any damage to of dysfunction of central auditory nervous system. They may affect due to heredity or genetic disorder.
Some of the symptoms of Auditory processing disorder:
- Have trouble in paying attention and remembering
- Poor listening skills
- Behavior problems
- More time taken to process information
- Low academic performance
- Language difficulty
- Difficulty in reading, vocabulary, spelling and comprehension
