Appendicitis is also called epityphlitis. Appendicitis is inflammation of the appendix. Appendicitis may occur due to blockage in the appendix by stool or a foreign body or cancer or from infection. This condition is a medical emergency for surgery, if left untreated the inflamed appendix would burst spilling the infection in the abdominal cavity.
Some of the symptoms of Appendicitis:
- Severe pain right lower abdomen
- Nausea and vomiting
- Fever
- Decreased appetite
- Abdominal swelling
- Painful urination
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult a doctor if you have signs of appendicitis at the earliest possible. Immediate surgery may be required to remove the appendix.
