Abdominal Pain is commonly observed and often a minor condition. Acute Abdominal Pain is usually a symptom of intra-abdominal disease. Some time the severe or acute pain can be sign for surgery or immediate medical care. Possible causes for acute abdomen may include: viral gastroenteritis, hernia, appendicitis, kidney stones, diabetic ketoacidosis, heartburn, peptic ulcer, cancer, pneumonia. In women: menstrual cramps, uterine fibroids, miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease and ovarian cysts. In Infants: volvulus, intussusceptions, Hirschsprung's disease and other congenital defects.
