Dr. Kunjahari Medhi

Dr. Kunjahari Medhi is a Senior Consultant in the department of Medical Oncology at the Batra Hospital and Medical Research Centre in New Delhi. He has been practising at this hospital since September 2010, prior to which he was associated with the Action Cancer Hospital and the Artemis Health Institute. He has been involved in treating all types of solid cancers and haematological malignancies in paediatric and adult patients.

Dr. Medhi excelled in academics right from his schools days, picking up several medals, prizes and scholarships along the way. With an MBBS and MD (Paediatrics) to his name, he decided to specialise in cancer treatment and undertook a three-year post-doctoral senior residency in the department of Medical Oncology of the Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. The Senior Residency in Medical Oncology is a taught course that includes two research dissertations (one clinical and one laboratory) and leads to the award of the DM degree. During the three years, Dr. Medhi underwent extensive training in specialised skills, including autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation, which are required for management of haematologic and solid tumours both in adults as well as in children. He also participated in research projects, as Research Scientist and Senior Research Associate. While he is familiar with most aspects and procedures of Oncology, Dr. Medhi's areas of special interest include cancers of the breast, stomach, prostate and lungs.

Dr. Medhi has been actively involved in clinical research, and has run various Phase III trials as principal investigator. In his tenure as Senior Research Associate in Medical Oncology he was involved in a research project on chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), the results of which were published in Leukemia and Lymphoma as an original article. He has also authored or co-authored several articles and papers, many of which have been published in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented some of his papers at medical meets and symposia, besides participating in a faculty role at several national and international conferences. Dr. Medhi also involves himself in DNB teaching, and training of paramedics and doctors.
