Work / Accomplishments

Dr. A. V. Srinivasan holds professional as well as advanced medical degrees from some of the most reputed medical institutions of our nation. He was awarded the M.B.B.S, M.D. General Medicine and D.M. Neurology from the esteemed Madras Medical College. Consequently, he is also a recipient of doctorate degree Ph.D. from the acclaimed Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University. Interestingly, the Universities first ever PhD in Neurology was awarded to Dr. Srinivasan. His academic credentials exemplify his commitment to being a lifelong learner whilst advancing his knowledge to a greater cause. 
Dr. Srinivasan is most respected and admired for developing a new criterion AVS CUV criterion in the world literature for Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome. He developed a technique to reduce pain in stroke and Phantom limb conditions by stimulating the large fiber sensations. He also presented the world’s first case of Unconscious Sensory Perception. This makes Dr. Srinivasan’s reputation speak volumes for his unquestionable sincerity and dedication to his work. He was awarded the International Lions Award in 2018 at Chennai, Seva Bhushan Award by Karnataka Association in October 2019 and the Tanker Foundation award 2019 for the services rendered to the society. 
Dr A.V. Srinivasan was given golden jubilee celebration for his 50 years of educational and academic journey at Madras Medical College during the Indian Academy of Neurology summer school teaching program 2019 at Chennai. He is the first Neuroscientist from Madras Institute of Neurology to get this. Dr. Srinivasan has won more than 31 Awards and honors nationally and internationally. 
1). He was the Chief Guest at the 185th Graduate Reception Day (Spent 50 Golden years in Madras Medical College as a student, Faculty and as Emeritus Professor) 2). In 2022, was the Chief Guest to give the 8th Memorial Lecture at 117th Founders Day of PS educational Society. 3.) In 2022, was the Chief Guest to give a guest-Lecture on Global Health -Department of Biochemistry, DG Vaishnav College, Chennai. 4) In 2021, he was the Jury for 12 years - TYSA Award – For the best DM Post graduate in the country.
He has been doing lot of Free services. For 542 weeks (every Thursday) under his AVS Brain charitable trust, he has been providing absolutely free consultation, free medicines and free food for all his patients. He has received Lifetime Achievements Award from A.C.S. Medical college in recognition of his compassionate and dedicated services to the community and the field of neurology in India

Science Developed a new criterion AVS CUV criterion in the world literature for Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome.  Developed a technique to reduce pain in stroke and phantom limbs. Presented the world’s first case of unconscious sensory perception along with Prof. Dr. V. S. Ramachandran, the first Padma Bhushan awardee from India in Neurosciences. As President of Indian Academy of Neurology, he signed an MOU with AINA in transfer of Technology, Research and manpower training in various neurological disorders between USA and India in 2017, during the silver Jubilee celebration of Indian Academy of Neurology. He edited a book on all the Presidents of Indian Academy of Neurology titled Jewels in The Crown of Indian Academy of Neurology 2017. 
He was also appointed as Adjunct Professor of IIT Madras which helped to devise a handwriting model for studying Parkinson disease. His study on calorific stimulation with Prof. V.S Ramachandran paved way for understanding Neural connections in stroke and aphasia. He also released nine books on Parkinson’s, Stroke, Epilepsy, Headache, Depression, Head Injury, Autism, Vertigo and Mind and Brain.

Other information
Dr. A. V. Srinivasan founded the AVS Brain Charitable Trust in 2010 to serve poor patients suffering from brain disorders irrespective of their caste, creed and religion. He does free consultation and serves food on every Thursday. Patients are also provided with one month of Free medications during these visits. He has completed 542 weeks of uninterrupted service since inception. More than 60,000 poor patients have so far been benefitted. This trust also conducts patient education programs in various neurological disorders and has published 10 books in Tamil for the care givers to create awareness and serve the distressed diseased. 
Received certificate of appreciation from Sringeri Math for the Yeomen service rendered at the Medical and Health camps at Sringeri. His success mantras include A - Positive Attitude, B - Controlled Behavior, C - Impeccable Character, D - Duty, Dignity and Discipline, E - Empathic Doctor.

DR. A.V. SRINIVASAN'S UNIQUE DISTINCTIONS IN GOVERNMENT SERVICE
Dr. A.V. Srinivasan, a neurologist from Tamil Nadu, achieved several unique distinctions during his career in government service. For instance, he was the first neuro physician from Tamil Nadu's government service to receive fellowships from institutions in the United States, India, and the UK.Another notable achievement of Dr. Srinivasan was that he became the first neuro physician in the state to be awarded a Ph.D. by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.In 2001, Dr. Srinivasan also became the first Indian neurologist to receive the American Indian Neurology Award (AINA) at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology held in Philadelphia, USA.Moreover, Dr. Srinivasan was the only neurologist to be awarded a traveling fellowship to the USA as a Commonwealth Medical Scholar in the UK in 1994.Dr. Srinivasan's achievements also included being the first neurologist from Tamil Nadu to serve as a visiting professor at renowned medical institutions such as the Cleveland Hospital in Ohio and the Hershey Medical Center in Pennsylvania.Dr. Srinivasan organized a continuing medical education program called NeuroCon 2010 in Chennai, which was accredited by Harvard Medical School, making him the first neurologist in the state to conduct such a program.Dr. Srinivasan presented multiple papers at international conferences, including five at the American Neurology Association and five at the American Academy of Neurology, which was a record for any neurologist in the state.Dr. Srinivasan also wrote ten books in Tamil aimed at educating the public about various neurological conditions, such as Parkinson's disease, dementia, stroke, headache, epilepsy, autism, head injuries, vertigo, depression, and mind and brain.As a coordinator, Dr. Srinivasan also published twelve books in neurology, which honored twelve former professors of the Institute of Neurology during its Golden Jubilee year in 2000.Dr. Srinivasan was recognized with a lifetime achievement award by his students for his 25 years of service at the Institute of Neurology, Madras Medical College. On that occasion, he presented a textbook called "Practice Pearls in Neurology," which was given to all neurologists and physicians at the Madras Medical College in 2008.In 2017, Dr. Srinivasan was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award" in Neurology by the Coimbatore Neurological Society.In 2017, Dr. Srinivasan was also awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award" in Neurology by the Neuro Trust Chennai.Dr. Srinivasan was awarded the "Fusion of Great Minds" award in 2020 by the Prime Point Foundation in the field of Neuroscience at the national level.In 2021, Dr. Srinivasan built a temple in his native place, Sunnampathy in Dharmapuri District. The temple was built along with his family members and is dedicated to Ganapathy, Narayanan, Padmavathy, Shiva, Parvathy, Muthumariyamman, and Shiridi Sai and Sathya Sai Baba.The Lifetime Achievement Award for Inspiring Neurologist of India was presented in 2021 by The Economic Times of India in Delhi to Dr. Srinivasan in recognition of his exceptional achievements and contributions in the field of neurology in India.The Compassionate and Dedicated Services Award in Neurology was presented in 2022 Dr Srinivasan  in the field of neurology by the A.C.S. Medical College. This award is a Life Time Achievement Award that recognizes Dr Srinivasan’s exceptional dedication and compassion towards their work in neurology.Dr Srinivasan was Awarded a lifetime Achievement Award by Global Leaders Award in UAE in January 2023.Dr. Srinivasan has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement award by America Tamil Sangam and Madurai Muthamizh Nattupura Kalaigal Araaichi Niruvanam in February 2023.Dr. Srinivasan has been conducting free neurology services every Thursday at his clinic for over 550 weeks.
