Mr. Mahadevan B

Dr. Mahadevan B is a Gastroenterologist based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, where he practises at the AG Hospital in West Tambaram. He has also been associated with Chettinad Health City (Kelambakkam) and Dr. Kamatchi Memorial Hospital (Pallikarani) in Chennai. Dr. Mahadevan has five years' experience in Medical Gastroenterology and five years' experience in Paediatrics.  

After completing his MBBS in 1995 from Madurai Medical College, Dr. Mahadevan did his postgraduate medical studies at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Pondicherry, receiving the MD (Paediatrics) degree in March 2001. He then served as Senior Resident in Paediatrics at JIPMER for three years up to April 2004. This was followed by a stint of two years as Assistant Professor of Paediatrics at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Pondicherry. Dr. Mahadevan then chose Gastroenterology as his superspeciality and obtained the postdoctoral DM (Gastro) degree from Madras Medical College, Chennai, in August 2009. He worked for a year at the SRM Medical College in Chennai as Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology in the Department of Medical Gastroenterology.

Dr. Mahadevan underwent special training for two-and-a-half months in Meerut under Dr. Malay Sharma, in ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreaticogram) and therapeutic endoscopy along with EUS (Endo-Ultrasound) training. During the course of this training, he performed numerous ERCP procedures and received considerable exposure in most therapeutic procedures in the field of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Mahadevan is particularly interested in therapeutic interventional gastroenterology, mainly hepato biliary disease (including ERCP and EUS). He is also interested in general gastroenterology such as irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatic and biliary disorders. Dr. Mahadevan has several of his co-authored papers on Gastroenterology and Paediatrics published in various peer-reviewed medical journals. He is fluent in English and Tamil.
