Dr. C G Bahuleyan

Dr. C G Bahuleyan is Chairman of the Cardiovascular Centre at Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), a Fellow in Interventional Cardiology, Royal Adelaide Hospital, and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI). He is the Founder Director of the Kerala Heart Foundation and Founder President of the Interventional Cardiology Council of Kerala (ICCK).

Dr. Bahuleyan completed his MBBS from Medical College, Kottayam, in 1974 and MD (General Medicine) in 1979 from Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. His chosen super-speciality was Cardiology, and he obtained the DM (Cardiology) post-doctoral degree in 1982 from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Centre, Chandigarh.

Dr. Bahuleyan set up the Cardiovascular Centre at Ananthapuri Hospitals in 2005. He has held senior posts in a number of hospitals in India and abroad. He was Consultant Cardiologist and Chief of Cardiology at Al-Al-Amari Hospital, Kuwait, from 1992-94.

Over the last 30+ years, Dr. Bahuleyan has independently performed more than 10,000 Cardiac Interventional procedures (currently about 400 annually), which include elective and emergency procedures, all types of simple and complex Angioplasties like CTO, Bifurcation Plasties, Left Main Stenting and Venous Grafts. He popularised the Radial Route of Angioplasty and Stenting, and is proficient and experienced in the entire range of Non-Coronary Interventions as well. He has been routinely performing single and dual chamber Pacemaker Implantation and ICD implantation since 1984.

Dr. Bahuleyan has also contributed his time and expertise to teaching and training activities. He was Professor and Head of Cardiology at Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, from 1998 to 2005. He has 50 papers published in national and international peer-reviewed journals, has made a large number of presentations at conferences, and delivered innumerable lectures, talks and CMEs for medical students, doctors and others. Dr. Bahuleyan constantly augments his knowledge and skills by attending workshops and conferences in his field of specialisation, in India and abroad.
