PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Dr. Gautam Mukhopadhyay is among the best oncosurgeons in eastern India. He has about 25 years experience in this field. He started his training at the Tata Memorial Hospital, (TMH) Mumbai in Feb 1988 and completed a rigorous residency training programme in 1993. Having performed about 10,000 cancer operations during this period, he has developed invaluable experience in this discipline. In July 2019, he was awarded ‘Bishista Chikitsha Samman’ by the honorable Chief Minister, govt. of West Bengal.

Known for his high integrity and artistic surgical skill, he is widely recognized in the discipline. In addition to his routine activities, he is well known in the social area for his work on cancer awareness in Bengal. He developed the BENGAL ONCOLOGY FOUNDATION (BOF) to make a contribution to the society for the awareness in cancer. Closely associated with TMH, Mumbai, BOF has made a crucial impact in the social awareness of cancer.

Dr. Mukhopadhyay has attended several national and international conferences in the past decade to be updated in the discipline and worked relentlessly to develop surgical oncology as a discipline in Bengal. He has been invited as a VISITING FACULTY in various national and international conferences including at the TMH , Mumbai.
