Dr. Shailesh Pangaonkar is a renowned Psychiatrist from Nagpur, Maharashtra specialising in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Cognitive Sciences. He has rich experience of more than 15 years and is a pioneer in the field of Behavioural Sciences.

He accomplished MBBS in 1994 from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS), affiliated to Nagpur University. Simultaneously, he pursued BA (Psychology) in order to study human behavior and related sciences. He did specialisation (DPM) in Psychological Medicine from KEM Hospital, Mumbai in 1996. Dr. Pangaonkar went on to obtain his DNB from National Board of Education (Mm. of Health & Family Welfare), New Delhi in 1997. He has undergone intensive training in Child and Adolescence from World Psychiatric Association and with WHO De-addiction Center of Excellence at KEM.

Dr. Pangaonkar is actively involved in organising and hosting various events for spreading awareness amongst the masses. Some of his contributions worth highlighting are as below-

Dr. Pangaonkar is the Director and Founder of 'Central Institute of Behavioural Sciences' Consultancy in Nagpur, a centre dedicated for treatment and prevention of mental disorders and related abnormalities. Centre deals with a host of services under various projects like-

Manthan: For managing problems of under 13 between parents and children.
Disha: Guiding children to acquire higher quality of life under academic stress, career, and challenges of life. School Mental Health Program for uplifting the Mental Health of Teachers, Parents and Students.
SOHAM: A comprehensive program for clinicians, teachers, parents and children needing inputs and training on learning disability.
Manolaksha: For sports person regarding mental fitness for higher performance.
Manojyoti: Bereavement and grief management for care-taker and patients with end stage kidney diseases and cancer.
Manodhara: A comprehensive program for quality of life in patients with heart diseases, diabetes, and other psycho-somatic illnesses.

Gurutva: For Teachers to develop special skills of handling class room problems.

Centre is involved in group therapies for different disorders like Schizophrenia and Anxiety. It conducts free camps for Dementia and Sleep for different disorders. It helps students who are recommended by colleges to carry out their research work. Many schools are approaching Central Institute of Behavioural Sciences seeking its guidance for School Mental Health. This involves Psychological testing and lectures for parents, teachers as well as students. School Mental Health project is presently going on at Madan Gopal Agarwal High School, Laxmi Devi Dhiran Kanya Vidhyalaya and Saraswati Vidhyalaya. Till date, Central Institute of Behavioural Sciences has screened 6000 children and parents under MANTHAN and DISHA. It will be very soon starting training courses under the name “Serva-Shikshan Abhiyan” which is collaborated with Government of India. Central Institute of Behavioural Sciences has been selected as one of the 5 sites all over India for international clinical drug trials. Ongoing trials are in the field of Dementia and Sleep disorder, Opioid addiction, and Depression. It is running an anti TV campaigns at National level.

Institute is uplifting quality of life of people of Sharjah and Dubai by introducing School Mental Health Program in schools of Sharjah and Dubai. Beneficiaries of these projects are West Minister and Our Own English School. Students, parents and teachers are screened on various standard psychological tools and guided for perfect team work.

Dr. Pangaonkar has been delivering his expert comments on various World Alzheimer’s day at Central Institute of Behavioural Sciences. He has expressed his opinion on whether it is right to get emotional about cricket matches. Dr. Pangaonkar has also counselled one of the members of Indian cricket team. He has attended and interacted in various international forums organised in USA, Bangladesh, China, Denmark, and Turkey. It also includes an international conference on Cognitive Decline which was organised in Mumbai. In 2007, Dr. Pangaonkar was invited as a Chief Speaker of the function organised by Central India Kidney Foundation.

Besides successfully overseeing daily activities of Central Institute of Behavioural Sciences, Dr. Pangaonkar is also attached with Care Hospital and Suretech Hospital as Consultant and Institute for Training and Research in Concentration (Nagpur) as Faculty.
