Dr. Rakesh Kumar Singh is a prominent Otolaryngologist from Patna with specialization in diagnosis, management and treatment of disorders related to the head and neck, including ears, nose and throat. Dr. Singh is extremely adept in operative skills concerning Micro ear surgery, Micro-laryngeal surgery, Functional endoscopic sinus surgery, Skull base surgery, most of the nasal and reconstructive surgery, head and neck cancer surgery. Apart from this, Dr. Singh is a recognized post graduate teacher tutoring medical aspirants to help them achieve a career in medicine.
Dr. Singh’s educational road map consisting of MBBS from Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (Patna) and MS in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Ranchi) guided him to his desired career destination. A passion for teaching and research propelled him towards a career in medical education and thus began his teaching journey at various institutes such as BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences –BPKIHS (Dharan, Nepal), Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences - HIMT (Dehradun) culminating at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (Patna) where he presently enjoys the respected position of Additional Professor and Head of the ENT Department. In his teaching career, Dr. Singh has procured wide experience in regular teaching sessions and clinical demonstrations together with participation in Structured Interactive Sessions (SIS), Unconventional Learning Exercises (UNCLE), Case Based Learning (CBL), scientific sessions, workshops, journal clubs and mortality rounds. Moreover, he has acted as an Internal and External Examiner including setting questions for examinations conducted by reputed national universities. Additionally, Dr. Singh holds a robust research background gained through his involvement in numerous clinical trials (ongoing & completed) and research guidance provided to post graduate students for completion of thesis.
Dr. Singh is endowed with remarkable administrative, planning and innovative skills. He has utilized these skills to bring about productive administrative and teaching reforms in his past and current professional affiliations. He also has rendered his services towards Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme and Deafness Prevention Program conducted by the Government of India as well as Government of Nepal in association with WHO.
Dr. Singh keeps pace with the rapid changes in medical practice by way of overseas training and medical conferences. He has strived to generate medical awareness and overcome barriers in seeking medical help using powerful media tools like interviews, articles, academic, public awareness ideas, medical education, blogs, and articles published in news papers of national and international repute. His extensive publication background has crossed a tally of over 50 in number.
Dr. Singh’s glorious career is marked with several awards and accolades presented to him in recognition for his remarkable contributions and professional excellence. These include :
