Dr. Rattan P Kudyar, presently working as Director Principal, ASCOSM & Hospital, Sidhra, Jammu, attained his preliminary medical qualification of MBBS from the University of Kashmir in the year 1971.

He maintained a brilliant academic record in his MBBS years, and was honoured nine times with silver medals during his academic tenure of five years in Govt. Medical College, Srinagar. In 1974, Dr. Kudyar completed his MD General Medicine from the University of Kashmir. 

From 1974 to 1982 Dr. Kudyar worked in various capacities in both the Medical Colleges of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. In 1982, Dr. Kudyar successfully completed the postdoctoral DM course in the field of Endocrinology / Diabetology from the prestigious PGIMER Chandigarh, and became the first qualified super-specialist in the field of Endocrinology / Diabetology in the state of J&K.

Dr. Kudyar has more than 21 publications to his name, has presented many papers at various national and international conferences, and has delivered lectures at innumerable CME programmes. He is a visiting Professor as well as Examiner for MD and DM exams, to many universities. These include Delhi University, and universities in the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and United Arab Emirates. Nearly 100 students have completed their thesis work under his guidance.

Dr. Kudyar is amongst the very few in the country who bagged the WHO Fellowship in the field of Endocrinology / Diabetology and became one of the first recognised international diabetic trainers by undergoing a training course in USA. He brought laurels to GMC Jammu by becoming a post-doctorate (DM) Examiner in the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Recently, Dr. Kudyar attained the distinction of becoming an expert for the selection of Reader in the Department of Endocrinology at Aligarh Muslim University of India.

For the past two consecutive years Dr. Kudyar has been working as regional faculty for conducting the Certificate Course in Evidence Based Diabetes Mellitus (CCEBDM) initiated by International Diabetes Federation in collaboration with the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI).

In the year 2014, Dr. Rattan Kudyar was enrolled as a Fellow by the International Medical Sciences Academy and was inducted as a life member of Indian Doctors for Peace & Development (IDPD), an affiliate of International Physicians for Prevention of Nuclear Warfare (IPPNW).
