Dear Patient: usually tears from the eyes will be because of any infection. Commonly viral infections and bacterial as well can cause this. Tears provide protection against foreign agents, be it microbes or any inanimate particle. The secretions will be purulent in bacterial infections, but in your case it can be viral infection. Some times there could be an inturned eyelash which might constantly touch the eyeball resulting in frequent lacrimation. As such any specific diagnostic tests are not needed, a complete physical examination is necessary. I would suggest you to visit a good Pediatric Ophthalmologist and oblige.
