Dear Patient: Its the secretions of the pharynx that constitute phlegm. Generally after meals the secretions increase as an indirect effect of increased secretions in the digestive tract. The cause could be excessive simulation of the mucosa in the throat. Sometimes allergic response can also be manifested as excessive secretion. In your case anti histamines and proton pump inhibitors are helpful. Visit a good physician and address your problem.
