The Dayanand Medical College & Hospital was conceived by Ex. Capt. Dr Banarsi Dass Soni, who had a missionary zeal for medical education and wanted to provide good medical care to the common people. This institution was started as the Arya Medical School in 1934 in a rented building. Later, the Arya Samaj took over the management of the college and renamed it as the Dayanand Medical College & Hospital when it was attached to the Dayanand Hospital.

The medical college and hospital have been recognized by the Medical Council of India for the MBBS degree and affiliated to the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Punjab.
