I have Abdominal hernia

Dear Doctor: ?

Dear Patient: It appears that you have Umbilical Hernia, which is a type of abdominal hernia. As you pointed out the swelling to be in the umbilical region (navel), it will be Umbilical Hernia. Whereas, if it happens to be two to three inches above navel, it could well be a diaphragmatic hernia. Surgery is the best and almost a permanent solution to your problem. Conservative management in the form of anterior abdominal support will be of help in early cases and after surgery. It is better not to delay treatment approach, as it can cause intestinal obstruction which is not good.

surgical correction is the best remedy for hernias. Any other mode of treatment can create more problems.
