My father's cholesterol is 205 mg/dl.

Dear Doctor: ?

Dear Patient: Usually Cholesterol levels have to be maintained below 200 mg/dl. If it is between 200 and 239 mg/dl, it is borderline high, and more than that is high. He comes under the borderline high category. In the report it should be seen that the LDL component should be below 70mg/dl. LDL is Low Density Lipoprotein (Bad Cholesterol), which is the main cause of arterial blocking. It is a case to get alert and follow a good diet and healthy regime. Regular brisk walking, avoiding oily foods would help. Visit your family physician for other parameters like BP, Blood Glucose Levels etc and maintain them in normal limits as they have a bearing on this.
