If there is residual disease after trans sphenoidal Surgery ( through nose) then patient should receive post operative Radiotherapy. even if there is complete removal of pitutary tumor but if it was a secretory pitutary adenoma then also patient should receive post operative adjuvant radiotherapy.
The most appropriate dose will be 45Gy/25# over 5 weeks.
and don't worry radiotherapy for pitutary adenoma is very safe without any major toxicity.
