Please clear my confusion about salmonella o Salmonella typhimurium count results.

Dear Patient: You need not worry as it will take time for the widal test to be negative after an illness. O and H are the antigens of the same organism, one is flagellar antigen and the other is cell wall antigen. The antibodies against these are measured in WIDAL test and reported. Usually the ratios of 1:80 or above are clinically significant and indicate disease. It will take time for these circulating antibodies to disappear from the blood and give a negative widal report. If you do not have illness or any other symptom after completing the five day course, then you need not worry.
