Poor vision

Dear Doctor: ?

Dear Patient: Lasik entails cutting a superficial flap in the cornea, doing a laser reshaping of the underlying cornea, and then replacing the flap. This allows rapid stabilisation of vision and good correction of high degrees of myopia (short-sightedness). There is a tendency to suffer from dry eye syndrome after the operation. The technique is safe when it is performed by an ophthalmologist, who specialises in corneal surgery.
