This could prevent you from getting the toothache in the first place since the dentist can spot the early signs of any issues and have you treated for them straight away, avoiding further damage or future pain. Your check-up isn’t just to look for tooth decay; the dentist will also look for signs of serious problems like gum disease and oral cancer.
4. Watch Your Diet
A lot of sugar in your diet can have a very unhealthy effect on your teeth. Cutting back on sugary drinks and high-sugar treats will help keep your teeth strong and benefit your health in many other ways. Of course, there is nothing wrong with having a sugary treat now and again – but when you do, drink some water or rinse your mouth out with water afterward to avoid having the sugar sitting on your teeth for too long.
5. Use a Teeth Guard
If you grind your teeth at night, this isn’t just painful for your jaw but can also damage your teeth. Your dentist can fit you for a comfortable guard to wear at night to prevent damage. Tooth grinding is often caused by anxiety and stress, so taking steps to destress your life can also help.
