Psoriasis is like many other diseases wherein sometimes it will be in remission and at other times it will flare up and start spreading. If you are a victim of psoriasis sufferer then following these tips could help you out -

Healthy Habits

Because this condition loves to flare up when you are lacking on sleep and are feeling weak, it is very important to get between 7 and 8 hours of good sleep every night. Make sure to drink lots of water for keeping the body hydrated. The skin tends to stay calm when there is neither alcohol being consumed nor red meat, so try and steer clear of both. Adding exercise 3 or 4 times a week will also help to keep psoriasis at bay. By doing all of these things you are making the body healthy and keeping infections away.

Smoking

There have been studies that indicate that smoking can bring out the worst in pustular psoriasis. This type of psoriasis is usually found on the palms of the hands and soles of your feet. In this study many people who were able to quit smoking observed that their psoriasis went into remission.

Stress

When you are dealing with a disease that depends on your way of life the last thing you want to do is get all stressed out. Stress is part of life and many people have a hard time coping up with it. If you find yourself getting all stressed then try some yoga, biofeedback, or even progressive relaxation to bring the levels back down. By letting stress eat at you it will eventually trigger the symptoms.

Lesions

When you have a lesion on the skin it is very important not to pick it, rub on it, or even scratch it. This can cause it to spread and also leave nasty scars when it is in remission. If you notice lesions on your skin just remember to steer clear of the sun.

Caring For the Skin

To help keep psoriasis away you must ensure that your skin remains moist at all times. If you are plagued by constant itching sensation because the skin is dry then try soaking in an oatmeal bath full of lukewarm water. This will help the skin to remain hydrated while making the itching stop. When you are done with the bath, make sure and pat the skin down instead of rubbing it. After the skin has been gently patted down you are ready to apply moisturizer. During the day it is recommended to apply lotion to the body while at night before crawling into the bed one should use a cream or even an ointment to make sure the skin stays hydrated.
