Working Moms are Happier and Healthier

If you think your mom stays happier and fitter as a fiddle staying back home and juggling between your meals and daily grinds, then you might have to think again. Because according to some recently conducted studies and surveys, it has been revealed that women who work report are a lot happier and healthier than those who spend their entire day at home with their kids and preschoolers. Sounds surprising, doesn’t it?

Well although your mom’s juggling act is usually time consuming, but (interestingly) mothers who stay employed and engage in nine-to-five jobs are stronger and more content in life. In fact, if we go by what Journal of Family Psychology has to affirm, then mothers with employment not just lead a hale hearty lifestyle, but also show minimized possibility of any stress or health-related problems.

Below are some of the great reasons why working moms are happier and healthier. Take a look!

- Staying employed and occupied with something challenging at work keeps women professionally elated and instills them with a positive self-esteem. They not only stay happy from within, but also find it easier to lead a healthier and positive life.

- While being a parent requires mothers to schedule their everyday activities in a very systematic manner and to pay attention to their children first, mothers who are work driven are more likely to simplify the balancing act of their home and professional responsibilities. In fact, studies have shown that mothers who balance their family duties and work responsibilities are more likely to live for longer due to their positive outlook and overall well-being.

- At the same time, working mothers feel a sense of independence – which is indeed one of the most important factors for keeping them healthy and satisfied with themselves. Although getting stuck between work and family is very common for mothers, but it has also been known that maintaining an efficient working lifestyle can contribute massively to enhancing their perception about themselves – thereby, increasing the possibility of a longer lifespan. And off course, not to slip by, the financial freedom that comes strung along working plays a major role in keeping working women a lot happier and healthier.

- Also, a happy mother is always a good mother. Whether it’s about taking care of their family, looking after themselves, prioritizing things in life, or providing utmost productivity to their work, working mothers are always in an easy spot. Besides being instilled with feelings of self worthiness, independence, efficiency and productivity, a mother who is employed gets to latch onto at least sometime for herself in solitude. Although family might mean the most important aspect in a woman’s life, but researchers believe that mothers who work outside and earn on their own are generally more content and happier for their uninterrupted flow of thoughts. They not only find some little time for their individuality, but also tend to find it easier when it comes to prioritizing and managing things in life.

So in a nutshell, working mothers are indeed a lot happier and healthier – no matter which occupation or task they pick up on. If your mother is already working, you better not pull her strings back. And if your mother is not working, then we guess it’s indeed the right time you should push her for. After all, who doesn’t want his mother happier and healthier?
