The Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital is one of the foremost hospitals of Delhi that has earned the reputation of being one of the best hospitals in the area. This hospital, which was formerly known as Willingdon Hospital, was established by the British for their staff and had only 54 beds. After independence, the control of the hospital was transferred to our Central Government.
Today the hospital, which is spread over 30 acres, has a bed strength of 1216, and caters to the people of Delhi and the surrounding areas. The hospital is fully funded by the Government of India through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. One of the special features of the hospital is that no Emergency Patients are refused treatment.
Every year, the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital provides services to about 18 lac patients through the Out-Patient Department, while it serves about 67,000 in-patients, and about 3 lac patients at the Emergency. Every year the hospital conducts about 10,000 CT scans, 2,000 MRI scans, 2,00,000 X-Rays, about 25,000 ultrasound scans, and about 9,000 major and 40,000 minor surgeries.
