The Osmania General Hospital, which is one of the oldest hospitals in India, is located at Afzal Gunj in Hyderabad. It was built during the time of the Last Nizam, Osman Ali Khan, and is named after him. The hospital is run by the Government of Telangana, and is one of the biggest hospitals in the state.
The Osmania General Hospital was started with the mission of providing better patient care to the needy without any payment. The hospital has a bed capacity of 1,168, which is split into 363 super-specialty beds, 160 emergency beds and 685 general beds. It has 250 physicians and surgeons and more than 530 nursing staff on its roll. The hospital offers medical and surgical amenities in all disciplines through modern facilities using the latest technology.
The Osmania Medical College, which is attached to the Osmania Hospital, was established in 1846 and is one of the oldest medical educational institutes in the world.
