Exercise is one vital tool in one’s health. Just exercising does not make one fit and healthy. One has to know what kind of food to eat to enhance the effect of exercise. Eating a heavy meal before a workout will not have any effect and is dangerous for heart patients. When one eats a heavy meal before a work out, the heart has to work double-time to digest the food as well as pump blood to the muscles. Thus, causing more problems.

1.Fruits :


Fruits are the best for an instant boost of energy, especially before a workout session. These are easily digestible and provide an adequate amount of carbohydrates to provide one with a boost to exercise. Fruits like bananas and apples are the best for a pre-workout snack.

2.Oatmeal with low-fat milk :


Oatmeal is not easily digested but provides energy for a long time to keep you going through your entire work out. Oats also helps in burning fat, thus, helping in the effect of exercise.

3.Yogurt :

Yogurt is like the most glamorous food of today’s generation. But, little do they know about how healthy yogurt is. It is rich in probiotics and carbohydrates that you need for your exercise. It’s a meal in itself, ready to eat and quick.

4.Liquid meals :

Smoothies and milk-shakes are advisable for post exercise. All you have to do after a long workout session is gulp it down and get energized.


5.Lean meat and egg whites :

For many non-vegetarian friends, the craving for protein in the form of meat cannot be met. So the best way to kill that craving as well as keeping your fitness in mind is chicken and egg-whites. It is a great post exercise meal.

6.Tomato juice :


Research says that tomato juice is the best energy drink. Gatorade is miles away from tomato juice. It rejuvenates the lost energy during exercise. A few sips of tomato juice and your alive and kicking.


7.Ginger :


Ginger is said to enhance digestion. But recent studies from the IMA (Indian Medical Association) states that ginger helps in soothing the aching muscles. So eating a little piece of raw ginger is a good post-exercise supplement to calm your muscles.
