Use workouts to unwind

So what do you do to unwind at the end of a tough day? Maybe you read a book, watch a movie, go to a pub, etc. Have you ever considered working out to unwind at the end of a day? Well maybe you should if you haven’t done it till now.

A tough day raises the stress levels of an individual. It is known that too much stress causes headache, depression, insomnia and other problems. Exercising is one of the best ways to combat it. A good workout helps to release Endorphins in the body, which is a “feel good” hormone. Thus after a tough day, a good workout acts as a dose of medicine that helps us recover.

Unfortunately a lot of youngsters in the metros choose to go to a pub to unwind. It is ok, if done occasionally, but if done frequently it certainly is not good for your health. On the other hand working out at home or going to a gym is far healthier.

Of course you can choose to watch movies, television to unwind. However in my opinion workouts are much better. Think of it, can you ever feel good about yourself after watching a good movie? Sure you will feel entertained, but will it make you feel proud of yourself? On the other hand lifting heavy weights, losing fat, adding muscles will give you a sense of achievement and make you feel proud! This sense of pride will help in boosting your self confidence, improve your socializing skills, something that no good television show can ever do. This might also explain why people who lack confidence are often seen locked in their rooms seeking solace in food and television.

Now some of you may feel that after a hard day’s work if you were to work out then you will feel even more tired. Yes, if you are in bad shape then initially you might feel tired after a workout. However with time your workouts will make you feel refreshed and more energetic. The key is to not overdo the exercises. Working out will also help you sleep better at night. In fact most people after some time choose working out over movies, pubbing to de stress at the end of a day.

So, If You Want To Try Working Out Over Other Choices To Unwind Keep The Following Tips in Mind:

  • Start with small sessions of around 20 minutes
  • Do a variety of exercises to keep things interesting
  • Always try to start the workout immediately on returning home from work or if you work out at a gym then go there directly from work. If you decide to go home, take rest and then workout, you will in most likelihood skip the workout due to lethargy
  • Team up with friends, husband/wife to workout together. It will make workouts enjoyable and keep you accountable
  • Try to finish the workout with some meditation or deep breathing for 5-10 minutes to fully unwind

So employ one of the best tips for workouts to unwind at the end of the day, that is working out. It will also help in improving your physical, emotional and mental health.
